Under the headline ‘Discover the Natural Mineral Waters of Europe MEPs Dr. Rovana Plumb, Dr. Filip Kaczmarek and Dr. Theodoros Skylakakis invited policy makers and stakeholders on 9 February 2011, to the European Parliament, Brussels. For the first time in the European Parliament, Mr Andreas Larsson, nominated the ‘Best Sommelier in the World’, introduced European mineral waters and their different characteristics, unique tastes, and Europe’s Mineral Water heritage.

Member of the European Parliament and host of the event Dr. Rovana Plumb from the S&D group welcomed over hundred guests to the event and highlighted the fact that the event was co-hosted by her colleagues Dr. Filip Kaczmarek and Dr. Skylakakis from the EPP group in the European Parliament. The MEP referred to the different aspects of local Natural Mineral Waters: their economic and ecologic aspects, the sustainable nature of such local industries and the importance of glass to protect and preserve the taste, colour, odour, feel and mineral content of water. The Water Tasting Event brought together MEPs, representatives of the European Commission and the EU stakeholders in the EU Parliament. Over 40 water brands participated in the event.
