Welcome to the FEVE Website, gateway to the European glass container industry FEVE is the association of European manufacturers of glass packaging containers and machine-made glass tableware
Our members – European glass producers The federation's member companies manufacture glass bottles, jars and/or tableware items such as drinking glasses in the European Union, Switzerland and Turkey. They account for the great majority of glass packaging containers produced within this region. Glass – the quality packaging material As primary packaging, glass containers assure the preservation, safe delivery and attractive presentation of a vast array of consumer products, supplied to European and world markets. Whether used for drinks, food, cosmetics, perfumes or pharmaceuticals, glass plays a vital role in supporting European trade and commerce. For details, go to “Why pack in glass?”, “Statistics”, “Publications”, and “Links”. Glass recycling – preserving resources and cutting waste disposal The European glass container manufacturers took a remarkable initiative to enhance the industry's sustainable development when, some 30 years ago, they began to take back used glass packaging from households and recycle it into new bottles and jars - an activity which has grown without interruption in western Europe ever since, yielding substantial environmental benefit. For details, see “Publications” and “Statistics”, and use the “Links” to glass recycling organisations. FEVE’s role The federation represents the glass container industry at the international, and especially European, level and serves as a forum for examining common questions. FEVE maintains a dialogue with the European institutions and agencies on environmental, trade and other important issues. The federation promotes glass packaging and glass recycling, complementing the activities of the glass industry at national level. See also “Links” to national glass associations. |
